Payton's New Bike

Brian took Payton to Toys R Us and picked out the coolest new bike. Payton was so excited! We took it home and started riding lessons. Suddenly, the bike wasn't so cool any more. Riding a bike is more challenging than Payton imagined.
Payton was so frustrated. He hated his bike and wanted a new one.
Brian persuaded him to keep trying and he is enjoying his bike more each time he rides.
And of course, Cole has to do everything Payton does.

What A Week

It all started Easter weekend. Cole got the stomach flu and Payton had a cough and runny nose. Cole was too sick to get into the spirit of the holiday. He climbed off the couch for a few minutes to look for a eggs. We missed church but still had an Easter lesson at home. Monday, Brian went to the doctor and stayed home from work. He started getting a terrible cough. Cole finally started keeping food down and Payton's cough started to sound a little better. The kids even felt good enough to play outside. We thought the worst was over. NOPE! Cole started coughing.
Tuesday morning I took Payton and Cole to the doctor expecting to get some prescription cough medicine. Instead, I had to call Brian at work to pick up Payton; the doctor was putting Cole and me in an ambulance. Cole's oxygen level was so low he had to be admitted to the hospital. When we got to the hospital, Cole got an IV and some oxygen tubes in his nose.
The doctor said Cole would have to stay in the hospital 2-5 days. Wednesday, we celebrated Brian's birthday a day late.
Cole loved the ice cream cake. We couldn't get the blue frosting off his face. The nurses didn't know it was frosting and thought the oxygen wasn't working. Thursday afternoon the doctor said it was ok to take out the IV and said if he could sleep all night without the oxygen tubes we could go home Friday. We were so excited! Thursday night the respiratory therapist came to give Cole his breathing treatment. Cole fell asleep during the treatment. As soon as he was out his oxygen level dropped and we knew he wasn't going home yet. It was heartbreaking.
Luckily, Grandma Scott could fly to Vegas to help. Payton was so excited to see her.
Payton lost his second tooth. The tooth fairy brought him another $5. Cha Ching!
Friday night, Cole did not want to go to sleep. He finally went to sleep and his oxygen level didn't drop. The RT came to do his treatment and his level stayed strong. I stayed up all night. Any time his level would go down a little I moved him to make sure his airway was open. I fell asleep at 4:00. The nurse came to check on him at 5:45. This was the first time in my life I was happy that early in the morning. I knew we were going home today!
It was a week full of every emotion. In the end my heart was full of gratitude. Grateful for priesthood blessings, prayer, friends and family. But most of all my healthy boys.

A Visit From the Tooth Fairy

After weeks of wiggling, Payton finally lost his first tooth! He was so excited for the tooth fairy to come he went to bed early. The next morning he came in our room trying not to cry. His bottom lip was shaking and he said, "Dad, the tooth fairy took my tooth and didn't leave any money." Poor Payton. It was still dark in his room and he didn't want to wake up Cole so he couldn't see what the tooth fairy had brought him. He thought he had been jipped.
Brian felt so bad. They went back to Payton's room, turned on the light and sure enough the tooth fairy did come and Payton is now $5 richer! Plus, you can already see his new tooth.

Here Comes the Easter Bunny

Today was Payton's preschool Easter Picnic at the park. The boys had so much fun. Cole was so excited to see the Easter Bunny. He couldn't resist waving to him but was too nervous to get up close enough to have his picture taken with him. This fun Bunny brought Easter surprises for all the kids.
Payton said this was the best Easter Party ever. We brought a picnic lunch and got to have an Easter egg hunt.
Payton tried to be so careful during the relay races.
Cole wasn't worried about how many Easter Eggs he found. He just wanted to run and play!
Payton's class sang cute Easter songs for all the parents.
Cole can't get enough of the slide.
The boys are so excited for the Easter Bunny to come to their house and bring more eggs!

Happy Birthday Grandpa!

Happy Birthday Grandpa.
We wish we could be there to celebrate. Instead we had a party in your honor. The boys looked at pictures and talked about all the fun they do with you. Payton said he can't wait for summer morning snail hunts;
the parade and rodeo;

building legos; and

getting big hugs.

We Love You Grandpa!

The Birthday Boy

This year for Payton's Birthday, he wanted cupcakes instead of a cake. I found SpongeBob and Patrick decorations for the cupcakes. Payton got to help me frost the cupcakes. The best part was licking to knife after we were done frosting--Yum!
Cole really enjoyed the cupcakes. He ate more than Payton.

Yea! Another game for Wii. Payton didn't know the name of this game, but thanks to the creative team at Nintendo he could sing the commercial--"It's the final countdown."

Payton and his presents. Hooray, more Transformers!

Thank you Grandma Scott! Payton loves his new blanket you made. I think Cole was a little jealous. He had to cuddle with it in his new chair.

Merry Christmas!

Look at my handsome boys sporting these Christmas PJ's. It's a family tradition to open a present Christmas Eve and it's always been matching pajamas.

Here's Payton with the BIG present. He was so excited. "It's just what I asked Santa to bring me." Santa was super nice this year. Payton couldn't think of anything else he wanted.

The boys got fun chairs with their names monogrammed on them. We couldn't get Cole out of his chair.
Finally, something just his size.

Put away the camo clothes and sleeping bags, now Brian can hunt in the comfort of the living room. I think Brian was even more excited about the Wii than Payton.

Brian spoiled me again this year. He got me a new TV and DVD player for the kitchen. I love it! We had a great Christmas. We spent the day together laughing and playing. We got to talk to Brian's brother, Tyler, in Mexico. Our friends the Van Wagoners came for dinner and games. The only thing that could have made the day better was being with our families.
We miss you all, Merry Christmas!
